I believe that the mind is indeed powerful!!! It can do alot of things.. If U want to get something or be someone, all U have to do is set Ur mind to Ur goal.. Everything will follow!! :) But for U to be able to achieve that goal U better work on it.. U better act not just think!! lol..

I agree Dru. We can psych ourselves up or down and it will affect the choices we make, whether we settle for less or expect great things.

Life is much more about what our minds do than pretty much anything else. Our minds take into or take us away from from places of danger. Our minds set the tone of all our expiriences. Our minds lead us to the places we think are by chance. Listen to the mind nad head to the heart.

The saying "You are what you think" could'nt be more true.
The sum of our very essence is what we think of ourselves, what we think of others, what we think others think of us, what we want others to think of us, what we have thought of previously and what we think of our possible futures.

It is our thoughts that define us. If our thinking changes, the person changes.

To paraphrase a better writer, who or what we are now is what we previously thought of and who or what we will become will be because of what we think of.

I am of course assuming that the mind is synonymous with thoughts(conscious, semi-conscious or unconscious).

When you look throughout history and how far we have evolved from horse and cart to cars and planes, computers etc...all these came from someones imagination.

Then when you think about how much of our brain we DO actually use; imagine if you will what we could do if we used our whole brain?

"As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is" -The Bible Proverbs 23 7

"Mind is the Master power that molds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:—
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:
Environment is but his looking-glass."

Moe,
I am deeply suspicious of assertions that we only use a small % of our brain( 8-10% typically quoted).
Whilst it may be true that we could all think a little bit more and some could do a lot more thinking, the notion that we can SUBSTANTIALLY increase the usage of our brain is I think dubious.
To take a silly example, even if one tried very very hard, it will be almost impossible to - watch a movie, write a poem, have a phone conversation and solve complex mathematical equations - all at the same time.

I believe that we are not evolved to use all of our brains all of the time, but I am pretty sure we use almost every part of of our brain at different times.
